Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from that period of 2023.
The win also indicates he has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.
But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
